Project type Renovation

Preserving the residence’s inherent charm and enhancing its existing architectural features, this renovation sought to unlock the floor plan and create a dynamic central hub. The design establishes a seamless connection between spaces with carefully curated sightlines, embracing a restrained and contemporary interpretation of mid-century modern design principles.

Nestled on the fringe of the golf course, offering views over the green and ocean beyond, the new owners envisioned transforming this once entirely pink house - and I do mean entirely pink, from the roof, interior and exterior walls, carpet, benchtops, cupboards, tiles and even grout - into their dream home.

Beautifully detailed timber joinery conceals abundant functionality, accommodating everything from large appliances to an elegant bar equipped with a beer tap for homemade brews. Gently wrapping around the central space, the joinery is designed to encourage social interaction, creating an ideal setting for entertaining.

A rich, earthy material palette featuring smoked cork and walnut veneer grounds the interior, infusing the space with a profound sense of warmth and sophistication.

Client words:

“Initially I gave Chrissy what I thought was an impossible brief - make the kitchen the centre of the living space, make it work like a professional kitchen, but not feel like one, because ‘who wants to live in a kitchen?’… Chrissy delivered.

Without breaking the envelope of the house, Chrissy gave us more kitchen and more living area, a space that is effortlessly beautiful -
that is great design.“
