I’m Chrissy, the creative behind Design Alter. As an Interior Architect, my work emerges from the intersection of architecture and interior design. Magic happens where these two disciplines meet and dissolve into a single holistic design.

Inquisitive by nature, I seek to understand the subtle nuances of clients’ visions and translate them into captivating spatial narratives, finding innovative solutions to design challenges. I specialise in revitalising buildings through adaptive reuse, breathing new life into existing spaces via transformational renovations, alterations, and additions.

My passion is weaving the threads of form and essence, aesthetics and experience. Given the profound influence design has on human emotions and behaviour, I aim to create spaces that instil an overall sense of peace, joy, and wellbeing. My work is underpinned by the philosophy that design should be smart, functional and unique.

Awarded a degree in Interior Architecture from UNSW, I subsequently tutored there for two years. After working for over 10 years with esteemed interior design and architecture firms in Sydney, my experience spans commercial workplace, retail, hospitality and high end multi-residential, both locally and internationally.

Notable clients include Westpac, Suncorp, Apple, JLL, Equinix and Knight Frank. In 2021, I returned to my hometown of Pambula and founded Design Alter to focus on residential projects that embody authenticity and individual expression.

I embrace a deep love for creativity and the natural world, inspired by my father an environmental engineer and artist mother. When not immersed in the world of design, you'll find me chasing waves and travelling to explore new cultures. I draw inspiration from a myriad of architectural styles seeking fresh perspectives to enrich my craft.
